I went from knowing nothing about mandalas to knowing how to create them from scratch and colour them through different techniques, such as watercolour, markers on black paper and black pens. The emphasis on adding depth and negative space was very useful, as well as the watercolour techniques for the backgrounds and the inspiration for making whole pieces of art where the mandala is a complement to a bigger project. I really enjoyed this course. Her instructions were clear, simple and easy to follow along with, and were given in bite size pieces which I appreciate. I hope maybe one day she’ll make an advanced course with more complex pieces and techniques :)

I really enjoyed the easy, step-by-step guides that each lesson provided. The instructor did an excellent job of demonstrating the work, and the provided guides are handy for learning a new skill. I left the class excited to follow the patterns given, but I also felt excited to try out some of my own. I believe that the tools in the class provide a solid foundation for starting in this type of art.

I loved the great energy of David Perez, the way he explains things, the way he gives advices on some details i think this is what really matters for animator - to have fun of what you do! trying to simplify all the steps all the points is the best way to go further and not to stuck into your own or someone's demands, so focus on getting fun on the process. thank you David for this course and the way it has been explained. I love the level of this course. I'm a beginner and now I know exactly what to practice more. I really appreciate the resources — for me, practicing all of this is a lot of work. The course is about 2 hours, but it took me much longer, and I will start it again.

Anatomy demystified and simplified. It is recommended to have basic knowledge and not start from zero due to how fast the pacing can be. But on the upside, it is quicker to re-watch the videos again due to how short and speedy the instructor implemented the teaching points per topic. Good for busy people with less time to spare without compromising the important details. I also recommend buying his books to see the vast expanse of his anatomy application and his approach to this style. It will help unfold what you have learned from this course, exponentially speaking.

Excellent tutorial. Inspired me to finally get to work on a project that I have been sitting on for years. This course helped me to see that it was possible to start with an idea and simple lines and end up with a full animatic. Thank you for showing everything, even the mistakes and the tedious moments. It’s all an important part of the process, and it’s all worth it when the project is completed.

You are a fantastic teacher. As a children's book illustrator with many years of experience, I thought I knew drawing well, but I truly needed a course like this. It helped me understand how a character moves through space and how all the body parts relate to one another. Once I've mastered these principles, I'll be able to draw my characters from any angle I envision, not just from a single, limited viewpoint. I am actually quite impressed with this course. I was hesitant because environments make me nervous. But I have also realized in my art journey that I haven't really found my place, and I need to try as many creative aspects as possible. I've avoided this because I didn't want to do the typical landscapes, and while his examples are very typical (i.e. mountains, desert, etc),there is a difference between an Environment Illustration vs a Landscape Painting. I think I might actually really enjoy these projects. I went through the course and watched it fully. Now, I am going to take what I've learned and see what I can do. I don't want to copy his examples, but I do want to implement the process. It was quite an organized process, which might help take some of the pressure off.

There is nothing to dislike. Mark’s lessons are awesome and fun. Mark helped me to really get my drawing skills going. You could be a beginner or a professional and you would still love his lessons.

This course is paced very well and the instructor is very engaging. The examples are helpful - right up to the idea of using existing fairytales to create some practice storyboards. I didn't realize how complex storyboarding could be - and the idea of thinking of the camera angles as well as tips about keeping characters on same side for different shots was so helpful.

I have been hoping Erika would do another course after I found the last one helpful. I have been streaky struggling with getting my characters to be more expressive and this course helped me really think about the shame of a face when smiling which is a great starting point I can build upon. The content was clear and easy to follow. I used an old drawing of mine and refreshed it with Erika’s guidance and it looks so much better. My only criticism is that the shading part is rushed over and I would have liked a little more around giving drawings depth during that part of the coloring stage. I really hope Erika develops more courses. Request in early for expressive and lively character design!

I loved Erika's previous courses and already started this course very happy for seeing there would be a new one to watch. I learned many crucial skills for a digital artist and also developed confidence to create the artworks I always wanted to do. I recommend this course for everyone, it has all the lessons that a artist needs to start its journey!
