I rated this course for all levels because I think it depends on your training. I have my BFA in fashion and MFA in costume design. I am now attempting to illustrate my own picture book. This type of drawing is not in my wheelhouse. I've never heard of the "soft cube theory". My goal was to learn how to do simple clean picture book friendly drawings with consistent characters. This course immensely! Thank you!

It helped me a lot to remind myself of what I learned throughout my career and piece it together with the new things I’ve been learning to improve my ability to create character poses that feel alive. Being able to make better poses for characters I recently refined was really fun and necessary, since I realized I was focusing too much on staying within the mold of the design and had forgotten about their expressiveness. Life saver for my PitchDeck for a live curse I´m taking in production for animation.

I wish this man had an entire dedicated drawing course because his vibe and teaching style is a perfect match for me but anyway this is a great video to start with if you are a complete beginner and if you are like me and burn out easy it’s short enough to keep you engaged and hopefully at the end give you enough motivation to keep going 👍

The course provided a lot of valuable theoretical knowledge. It helped me gain a much better understanding of character creation in general and taught me important core principles to keep in mind. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is just starting out and needs a strong foundation and a solid understanding of the field.

I took a break from drawing for a few years because of frustration. I wanted to get back into it and even though I'm not necessarily a beginner I wanted to start from the ground up. I'm so happy I did! The way Rodgon breaks everything down has led me to so many "A-HA!" moments. Concepts that didn't click years back finally made sense. I cannot stress enough how important foundational concepts are and he makes learning them not overwhelming.

Wow, just...wow. i had a blast doing this. At first i was doubtful of my abilities to follow along but once I practiced and applied simple tweaks, I have been on fire with trying characters of all shapes and sizes. Thank you for making this course. I will keep coming back to it to refresh myself and keep up good habits.

I liked how safe it felt the whole art progress with Erika, I would've usually forbid myself to continue with the next step until it was as close as possible to what the artist had made, but in this course I felt welcome to experience the art progress with a little bit of "my own touches", and like Bob Ross would say, my mistakes didn't felt like mistakes, but happy accidents! I loved this so much, it took me a while to finish since how burned out I've been of art, but after finally ending this course, im very happy and motivated. Thank you, Erika!! :)

This has been an amazing course. I have been struggling for years with various different courses and always gave up after some time because the guidance was insufficient and the drawings intimidating. I have now completed the whole course and feel confident, which makes me want to draw more. I love the way he demystifies and simplifies everything. Excellent course!

I really liked this course, the way it was edited, with seeing her ipad on one side of the screen and on the other side seeing the brush and her hands while working was really nice. It's nice not only having to look at a screen but some slight interaction with the person talking.

Excellent course. I would have liked a reference sheet with all the main points as a resource. That would have been helpful, however I realize learning is enhanced when you take your own notes. Thank you!

Thank you Rhea for this course. With the Color theory you applied the concepts to drawings and techniques, it was great. Although I am using Krita I could follow up all the process. This course helped me a lot to start understanding the impact of saturation and hue in the art piece.

I really enjoyed this course. He offered some great tips and the lessons were clear and well demonstrated. Even though I have drawn my whole life, I have never had any formal instruction. The tips about the process leading up to the final color choices are something I am now working into my workflow. I hope you do a follow up illustration course, I will definitely attend.
