Every so often I like to strip back to foundations and rebuild areas of my knowledge that have become dilapidated with time. I was always taught to never be too proud to go back to basics and reassess things you thought you had sussed out. In this pursuit, other people's perspectives are key in freshening up your dusty old techniques, and even teaching you some smart tips that streamline your creative process. Rodgon is packed full of tips that will do just that for you in an unstuffy and personable manner. I've learned a raft of latin-drenched anatomical terms, I've sat though a ton of dense artistic theory and put in years of practice on prescriptive exercises,and while all of these things are feathers in your beret (though not all necessary - believe me), it's tough to find a teacher with real flow who can just cut through to what's pertinent and applicable. This spiffingly moustachioed gentleman is just such a teacher: straightforward, practical, effective and refreshingly unpretentious, in an arena where navel-gazing and know-it-allism is rife. Just remember that nobody is the font of all knowledge, and we're all building from generations of understanding, but that should be an endeavour in becoming leaner and smarter, without extraneous bloat. This course is a great place to get down to brass tacks and get grounded - then you can decide if you really need a 90hr deep dive course on the workings of the index finger that's going to cost most of your months wage. This course draw my attention to 21Draw and convinced me to stay on the platform for other courses. Rodgon's course was worth a university semester on human anatomy. The course covers extensively every part of human anatomy and is well taught with helpful examples. I am an illustrator without a university degree in arts...so for me this course was a eye opener and a great help to improve my illustration skills and to understand how to create well balanced characters. This is by far the best course on this platform. I would totally recommend it to everyone interested in human and animal anatomy. Amazing!!

I’m still working on this course but I have already learned so much! And I was able to put what I learned to use on current projects I’m working on! Erika is an excellent instructor & I’m finding this course so useful!

The first time I saw Rodgon on Instagram and followed him for some time. He has a way of explaining things that not even my professors in art school could teach me. When people talk about “it needs the klick in your brain and suddenly you understand everything” -> that klick is Rodgon. Worth every penny in my opinion

I give this course a high rating for what it is. Those who give it a lower rating seem to be rating it for what it is NOT. This is not a “learn how to draw” course, nor is it a “let’s build a character together” course. This is a course that explains a lot of the theory behind character design. I may watch it again and use it to create a checklist. As a monotone speaker myself, I felt very comfortable with Randy’s presentation style, and I feel like I got a peek behind the curtain of a successful artist in the industry. Very valuable.

I really enjoyed taking this course and learning to draw in a cartooney style. However in lesson 10 title snowmen, Mark makes a mention of The Rat Pack, and that Bing Crosby was a member, but he wasn't. One of the iconic members was Frank Sinatra, who he did not mention. And Frank is literally in the picture he displays in the video, when he mentions The Rat Pack. Just thought that was funny.

I took storyboard courses before, but this one helped me with clarity in linework and the dos and dont for boards overall. And why my storyboards look flat and no character emotion acting.

I really enjoyed this course. David gave here and there some insightful tips that play a fundamental role in drawing balanced characters. I think this course has a lot of potential and I am sure that with time David will keep expanding the course material and making it to a more complete course. This course is suitable for absolute beginners. Thanks for your work David.

Tony Bancroft really managed to simplify the process of creating more engaging and clear illustrations in a fun and easy way ! As someone who struggles with composition and background art, I feel like his class really helped me understand and improve what makes a compelling image ! Thank you for this class !

In terms of what I liked from the course, she explains her process step-by-step really well and her process makes things feel a lot more intuitive and easier. I like how she uses certain pencils in the sketch to vary line weight to keep the sketch clean/nicely varied from the beginning since I struggle with sketching but use microns a lot to clean things up and they reminded me of that and give you a lot of control over line weight. Her process is also really straightforward and makes transitioning to digital a lot easier since she explains things really well and keeps her digital process simple and also builds on the initial sketch without covering it. I think the reason I put it as intermediate and not beginner or absolute beginner is because this is heavily tailored towards procreate. You could use other drawing software, but procreate is way more streamlined and simple while drawing without a tablet on a computer relies more on knowing keyboard shortcuts and it probably won't be as intuitive as using a tablet the way she does. It's good for transitioning to digital if you already know a bit about digital or the program you're using. It's probably best if you're struggling to make stuff look good in digital or if you really like her art style and want to pick up on aspects of it or emulate it. Art style-wise and process-wise, this course was extremely helpful.

I find her step-by-step instructions and explanations helpful; however, I think sometimes she glosses over certain steps towards the end, like which layers she is using soft light, and overlay. The examples are practical and helpful for those who struggle with applying color theory to their works.

Intro to Prismacolor markers is an awesome course. I learned how to keep the markers from leaving stripes, and some stuff about Stream of Consciousness drawing. All sorts of cool techniques & tips.

I loved how encouraging the teacher was! I will definitely be using some of these tips for my own social media. The only complaint I have is that it was mostly focused on Instagram instead of a bunch of different options (although most of the information still helped).

There were so many hurdles I had to get over along the way…trusting my intuition with this and starting the sketch. Starting the actual coloring was the Biggest hurdle!!! I tend to not do a thing if I can’t do it well. I decided to Enjoy The Learning Process and get the best markers I could afford in the process, lol. I realized very quickly…a lot of times someone will try “art” then say they’re not an artist because it can’t do a certain technique because it doesn’t look good to them. I left markers in my distant past because I didn’t like the streakiness (unless it was a small image I colored then used colored pencils on) …Anyway, after taking this class, I’m realizing it’s all a matter of time and technique both practiced!!! Having said that, why was I afraid to “embellish my artwork after I was done coloring it? 😆 I told myself, “This is yet another hurdle, and you have experience now meeting and going over these hurdles with this drawing…so I did embellish this, just a bit... The major consensus online was “Leave it alone/as is”! I didn’t see that until after I had did a little embellishing, lol? Yes, lol! 😂 So, I finished my art piece and received confirming attention on social media…Whoo! I’m so glad I took this class!!! 🌻🌺🌿🌈☀️✨

I love how Erika broke down every step clearly. Each technique and method she shared really helped me unlock my skills to the next level. I was able to create a piece that’s beyond what I thought I could do. I’m very happy with this, and I would take another course with Erika no doubt! Thanks!
