I went from knowing nothing about mandalas to knowing how to create them from scratch and colour them through different techniques, such as watercolour, markers on black paper and black pens. The emphasis on adding depth and negative space was very useful, as well as the watercolour techniques for the backgrounds and the inspiration for making whole pieces of art where the mandala is a complement to a bigger project. Inspirational, instructive and relaxing. Thanks so much, Khushboo!

Every so often I like to strip back to foundations and rebuild areas of my knowledge that have become dilapidated with time. I was always taught to never be too proud to go back to basics and reassess things you thought you had sussed out. In this pursuit, other people's perspectives are key in freshening up your dusty old techniques, and even teaching you some smart tips that streamline your creative process. Rodgon is packed full of tips that will do just that for you in an unstuffy and personable manner. I've learned a raft of latin-drenched anatomical terms, I've sat though a ton of dense artistic theory and put in years of practice on prescriptive exercises, and while all of these things are feathers in your beret (though not all necessary - believe me), it's tough to find a teacher with real flow who can just cut through to what's pertinent and applicable. This spiffingly moustachioed gentleman is just such a teacher: straightforward, practical, effective and refreshingly unpretentious, in an arena where navel-gazing and know-it-allism is rife. Just remember that nobody is the font of all knowledge, and we're all building from generations of understanding, but that should be an endeavour in becoming leaner and smarter, without extraneous bloat. This course is a great place to get down to brass tacks and get grounded - then you can decide if you really need a 90hr deep dive course on the workings of the index finger that's going to cost most of your months wage. Cheers Rodgon for being legit.

I really enjoyed this course. Her instructions were clear, simple and easy to follow along with, and were given in bite size pieces which I appreciate. I hope maybe one day she’ll make an advanced course with more complex pieces and techniques :)

I really enjoyed the easy, step-by-step guides that each lesson provided. The instructor did an excellent job of demonstrating the work, and the provided guides are handy for learning a new skill. I left the class excited to follow the patterns given, but I also felt excited to try out some of my own. I believe that the tools in the class provide a solid foundation for starting in this type of art.

I loved the great energy of David Perez, the way he explains things, the way he gives advices on some details i think this is what really matters for animator - to have fun of what you do! trying to simplify all the steps all the points is the best way to go further and not to stuck into your own or someone's demands, so focus on getting fun on the process. thank you David for this course and the way it has been explained. Loved it very much.

I was looking for a course that explains anatomy like this. The tools and methods mentioned are REALLY working, they are all usable, practical, and help seeing the context clearly when it comes to proportions, shapes, and the rest. Thank you so much, this course is absolutely brilliant.

It’s hard for me to boil down the things that I love about this course. As a professional teacher of many years, I can only say that Rodgon has that rare gift of communicating a complex idea in a very clear and engaging manner.

Excellent tutorial. Inspired me to finally get to work on a project that I have been sitting on for years. This course helped me to see that it was possible to start with an idea and simple lines and end up with a full animatic. Thank you for showing everything, even the mistakes and the tedious moments. It’s all an important part of the process, and it’s all worth it when the project is completed.

This is so far the best course in 21-Draw. Not because is the best artist nor most skilled, etc. Its the best that most accurately matches the title and its expectation with what was delivered. If you take this course at any level you will not be undersold, nor overkilled. If you are a beginner it will take you step by step to what it promises to do. If you are a pro, or seasoned artist, this will be a good refresher or show you another way to get there confidently, or spark curiosity to try another style. What this course does well is that you dont need to know anything outside of it to work for you. Also while in Photoshop, the instructor didnt use any exclusive tool or process you cant do or find in free software like Krita or Fresco, or better illustration and art software like Clip Studio Paint, or PS FREE rival Affinity Studio. You could do all of it in ProCreate, Medibang, Sketchbook Pro, etc... all of them have the brushes he used, multiply and color layers, clip masking and reference or alpha layers. Another great thing was that it wasnt filled with FLUFF like the majority of art courses in Domestika and 21-Draw. 75% of all courses can be cut by 40%... if the course is more than 3 hrs you know it could have been done in 2hrs. No digital art course needs to be over 3hrs to teach one concept or skill (HINT HINT) if it does you are not on target or too many fillers. That said like most courses, this course needs to be watch at 1.5x speed... which is the norm anyways for all 21-draw courses.

A great course that delivers what is promised. Andrea does something that a few do... he talked all the way through everything. When you watch his video, you know what is going through his mind and where is he coming from to do what he is doing. He is a very simple and effective artist, and he motivates to find your style and shared how he got to his. He also dispelled the notion that you need 1,000 tools and brushes to do exquisite work. He uses out-of-the-box tools and brushes and does great manga art. This is a manga creating course and he delivers how to do one style, but it works to find your own or emulate most manga between reason. The length of the course was excellent and no fluffs. He doesn't do 3 hrs of drawing everything, but he gives you enough basic to do your homework and get your own style or be able to replicate other. This was a sleeper course, good thing I clicked on it before investing time in a 6hrs plus course.

I find these video lessons and demonstrations are great to watch. I’m a visual learner and like how Instructors break down their criteria for those could have a Disability like Autism Spectrum Disorder. Just needs a specific way to understand the concept better. Much appreciated. Thanks David Perez &21 Draw.

Erika so clear on what to do. It was hard not to want to skip videos because it feels slow at first, but after the first few videos, it was clear and I understood! I have always wanted to create digital art, but it was too hard to understand, but now I do! This course is highly recommended!

I am actually quite impressed with this course. I was hesitant because environments make me nervous. But I have also realized in my art journey that I haven't really found my place, and I need to try as many creative aspects as possible. I've avoided this because I didn't want to do the typical landscapes, and while his examples are very typical (i.e. mountains, desert, etc),there is a difference between an Environment Illustration vs a Landscape Painting. I think I might actually really enjoy these projects. I went through the course and watched it fully. Now, I am going to take what I've learned and see what I can do. I don't want to copy his examples, but I do want to implement the process. It was quite an organized process, which might help take some of the pressure off.

I give this course a high rating for what it is. Those who give it a lower rating seem to be rating it for what it is NOT. This is not a “learn how to draw” course, nor is it a “let’s build a character together” course. This is a course that explains a lot of the theory behind character design. I may watch it again and use it to create a checklist. As a monotone speaker myself, I felt very comfortable with Randy’s presentation style, and I feel like I got a peek behind the curtain of a successful artist in the industry. Very valuable.

I really enjoyed taking this course and learning to draw in a cartooney style. However in lesson 10 title snowmen, Mark makes a mention of The Rat Pack, and that Bing Crosby was a member, but he wasn't. One of the iconic members was Frank Sinatra, who he did not mention. And Frank is literally in the picture he displays in the video, when he mentions The Rat Pack. Just thought that was funny.
