I really just wanted to mindlessly draw to someone holding my hand and that's exactly what I got!! Though, for more inexperienced artists, please take notes and watch this many times, there is a lot of good information here :)

Every so often I like to strip back to foundations and rebuild areas of my knowledge that have become dilapidated with time. I was always taught to never be too proud to go back to basics and reassess things you thought you had sussed out. In this pursuit, other people's perspectives are key in freshening up your dusty old techniques, and even teaching you some smart tips that streamline your creative process. Rodgon is packed full of tips that will do just that for you in an unstuffy and personable manner. I've learned a raft of latin-drenched anatomical terms, I've sat though a ton of dense artistic theory and put in years of practice on prescriptive exercises, and while all of these things are feathers in your beret (though not all necessary - believe me), it's tough to find a teacher with real flow who can just cut through to what's pertinent and applicable. This spiffingly moustachioed gentleman is just such a teacher: straightforward, practical, effective and refreshingly unpretentious, in an arena where navel-gazing and know-it-allism is rife. Just remember that nobody is the font of all knowledge, and we're all building from generations of understanding, but that should be an endeavour in becoming leaner and smarter, without extraneous bloat. This course is a great place to get down to brass tacks and get grounded - then you can decide if you really need a 90hr deep dive course on the workings of the index finger that's going to cost most of your months wage. Cheers Rodgon for being legit.

Great course! I sat at my tablet sketching away as I watched each part. I've watched lots of vids, and studied lots of books on figure and face drawing over the years, and although I've improved over time, nothing's ever really 'clicked' to the point where I got good results without ref or just a lot of trial and error. Whereas I feel I'm getting nice, repeatable results after this, when drawing 'from my head'. If there were two things I'd like, it would be an extra to the face drawing section on how the side of the face curves, in 3/4 views (out at the brow, in at the eye socket, out for the cheek). Also, an optional extra on hair would be good. ;-) Thanks for a fantastic figure/face drawing tutorial!

Brilliant and engaging - I felt as though I could follow along and easily grasp concepts that were being explained - the real time examples and diagrams were really helpful. Something I'm personally struggling with is how to accentuate features on someone who doesnt have anything that stands out, or someone who has a larger figure/face shape that has little definition to refine with a caricature style, but I also think that it's something that will develop with practice.

I've been creative all my life... and have been wanting to get back to a creative structure/schedule. I thought I would start at the very beginning to refresh my skills and allow myself to possibly learn something new. I learn several new tips/techniques that I'd missed along the way. I appreciate Mark's encouraging style of teaching. Now onto the next course to keep expanding. I enjoyed this course. (Especially the Koalas!;-)

I'm a huge fan of Jordan and wondered how he could make such lovely paintings. This was a class I've been looking forward too since a long time. The instructions are so clear. The process videos are great and it's interesting and awesome to watch how gouache interacts with paper and after drying. I've never painted gouache before and this is a great inspiring starting point to try now. Thanks team and Jordan for this wonderful course!

I have learnt more from Loopy Dave in this course than I have from various boring portraiture books over the years, including lots of transferable skills to other drawing items in general. Thank you very very much Dave.

I really, really liked this course. Tony explains things very well and provides a lot of examples and insight about the subjects covered. This is a great introduction into how to properly compose a scene and how to make it the best it can be. I also loved how much fun Tony has when he's working on the drawings. Similarly to Mark Kistler and Rodgon, it inspires you and makes you want to grab your sketchbook asap! :)

This course was very interesting and well structured. It helped me better understand how to build environments from the ground up, focusing on composition, value separation, color palettes, lighting scenarios, atmosphere, and scene population. I especially liked the practical assignments, which make it easier to experiment and apply the concepts immediately. The explanations are clear, concise, and easy to follow, making the course enjoyable and motivating. A great introduction to landscape creation, with techniques that are useful both for illustration and game environment design.

When I first starting doing animations, with zero experience, and using YouTube tutorials as my guide, I ended up frustrated and unhappy. Understanding animatics was particularly troublesome and my short films always ended up sucking. I am so thankful for this course! Explained everything so perfectly. I am now able to understand the process and carry it out fluently, making the entire process less disastrous, or discouraging. Incredible. Thank You!

Although the course is presented with an animation focus, it translates extremely well to game development. The storyboard techniques are very effective for planning and communicating gameplay, cutscenes, level flow, environments, characters, and game presentation videos. I regularly use storyboards to explain mechanics, pacing, and scene readability, and this course provides practical tools to turn ideas into clear visual sequences that are easy to share with a team. A solid introduction to visual storytelling, framing, and camera language. Essential skills for game designers and game artists as well!
