Daniela García is a self-taught artist from Arizona, inspired by anime and manga. She makes anatomy simple by breaking the body down into easy, 3D shapes.
Build a figure that looks real and 3D, even if you are completely new to anatomy!
Ever practice figure drawing for hours, and still feel like your characters look flat? The muscles don’t sit right, and nothing seems to belong together?
This is the exact struggle that pushed Daniela García to find a better way. Once you learn to see the body as simple 3D shapes, anatomy finally starts to click.
Here’s what makes this course different: Daniela starts with the absolute basics, perspective and simple shapes. You’ll learn to draw boxes, cylinders, and spheres in space, then bend and combine them into the organic forms that make up the body. By the time you reach actual muscles, you’ll already understand why they look the way they do.
From there, you’ll build the body piece by piece. The torso, the pelvis, arms and legs, hands and feet, all the way up to the head and face. Daniela shows you how to use references the smart way, not by tracing, but by spotting the simple shapes hiding underneath. Then you’ll put it all together into full figures and even dynamic, action-packed poses.
By the end, you’ll have a whole new way of seeing the human body. No more flat, stiff drawings or figures that fall apart the moment you change the angle. You’ll have the confidence to construct anatomy from scratch, in any pose, with nothing but simple shapes and a little practice.
Best of all, you don’t need fancy software or years of experience. Whether you draw on an iPad or with a pencil and paper, these methods work. All you need is a willingness to jump in and start drawing!
Ready to finally see anatomy in 3D? Let’s begin!
Daniela kicks things off by explaining exactly what this course will help you do: break down the human body into simple 3D shapes so your anatomy finally looks like you want it to.
Before you draw a single muscle, you’ll learn to see the world in 3D. Daniela walks you through 1-, 2-, and 3-point perspective, showing how boxes sit in space above, below, and right at eye level.
You’ll even draw the hidden edges inside each box to train your brain to think in volumes. By the end, you’ll see how perspective sets up those dramatic, dynamic poses, like a hero soaring through the sky!
Everything starts with three simple shapes: the box, the cylinder, and the sphere. You’ll get comfortable drawing them freehand, then add cross contour lines that make them feel round and solid.
Daniela shows you how to cut, stack, and merge these shapes into brand-new forms, then bend and stretch them into the organic shapes that make up the body. This is the moment a plain cylinder starts to look a lot like an arm!

Now you’ll start building a real body, beginning with the core. Daniela breaks the rib cage into a simple box or egg shape and the squishy belly into a soft blob, then shows how the two balance each other out.
The main muscles of the chest, abs, and back come next, including that wide “Dorito” shape of the lats. The pelvis gets the same easy treatment, so you’ll know exactly how the hips tilt and rock in any pose.

Time to add the limbs! Using the same cylinders and spheres, you’ll build arms and legs with the right proportions, then layer on the muscles.
Daniela covers the delts, biceps, and triceps, forearm muscle groups, and then thighs, hamstrings, and calves for the legs. The focus stays on the shape each muscle makes, so you can actually use what you learn next time you sit down to draw.

Daniela simplifies the two body parts that trip up nearly every beginner. For hands, you’ll start with the palm as a simple block and each finger as a cylinder, then build up to the knuckles and how they bend and move.
For feet, a basic wedge becomes your foundation before you add the ankle, toes, and midfoot anatomy on top. By the end, you’ll know how to connect each one naturally to the limb, so your figures look complete and grounded from head to toe.

Heads can feel intimidating, but not here! You’ll start with a simple sphere and jaw shape, then use easy landmarks to drop the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears right where they belong.
Daniela shows how fat, cheekbones, and jaw muscles change the look of a face, so you can draw realistic or stylized characters. Best of all, you’ll learn to spin the head to any angle and keep it looking right every time.
