He\u2019s an expert when it comes to character design and would like to share some insightful tips with you.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Stylization Made of?<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcsHTXk_aZQUElyWXe3eMkNKP1CYvGX4lj3ByRoLEYkt-_F1Ri_zofemzJTv33Fs6_QoSthhTZAr9uIJRWANX4IFGGVRw5SCiKdvdDGUxvPHQeBOvRZvZaJEjhTrn8Ta3s9v99dwc3DrMdYhRycRCAhou6z?key=agQ6Pw_1ckkggaaEO5Ohww\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">@RandyBishopArt<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>First, Randy wants us to know that<strong> stylization is made up of two things<\/strong>: simplification and exaggeration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simplification<\/strong> is when we<strong> break down complex details<\/strong> into their most basic form so that we can effectively communicate our ideas to our audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exaggeration<\/strong> is something Randy likes to do with facial features that will <em>really<\/em> showcase the character\u2019s personality. For example, he might draw an unusually small mouth on a character that is soft spoken or large eyes on a character with a curious personality!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facial Features: Proportions<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXfpqGg-QHeeOIOJUnwG9T7Jq8nxZhZpVgEpEaIFoN-XOl3GATAOdTVIvxUt0e6y4whmn8oKpYei7E6yvdFiUJILoum1C1AuSvP1A78IwA7K3qND1JGSHkdMLPj27nHZe6SEYY3BqQcQZyPI4QH5Emjqi711?key=agQ6Pw_1ckkggaaEO5Ohww\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">@RandyBishopArt<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Each part of the face, including its proportions, can be used to tell the character\u2019s personality. For example,<strong> we tend to associate the head with intelligence <\/strong>and <strong>the jaw with strength<\/strong>. As artists, we can design our characters with ideas like these in mind! <\/p>\n<p>In the image above, the character on the left-most side might be considered intelligent but lacking any sort of brute strength. The middle character appears strong and manly but not as wise. This means we have the ability to tell the story we desire by being intentional with every single part of our character\u2019s face!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Try This!<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Switch out the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth of a character<\/strong>, one at a time, and see how much they change!
